Welcome to the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research.
Our institute aims to provide the larger general public with information about our work, objectives and results.
The following list offers a quick overview of the most important information, services and public events.
Our Annual Report is published every year, and since 2002 in two languages.
We issue press releases on the most important scientific results and events.
Flyers in English and German provide information about the institute’s work.
The institute holds an intensive dialogue with members and representatives of the media, politics, culture and the general public. The high number of visitors provides living proof of this close public relationship. Our guests include politicians, delegations from science, commerce and culture as well as students and members of professional associations.
The Gatersleben Encounters, since 1995 co-hosted by the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, are of special importance for public relations. The series was brought to a first conclusion with the 10th Meeting in 2003.
The 2006 Gatersleben Discourse continued in the spirit of the Gatersleben Encounters and was held together with Evangelische Akademie Sachsen-Anhalt (Evangelical Academy Saxony-Anhalt).
Since 1993, we successfully hold an Open Day once every year, since 2001 together with local partners. In 2001, 2003 and 2006 we gave not only presentations of our work but organised, together with the Gatersleben community, multicultural events and forums.
Outstanding research results are presented both to professionals and the general public at fairs and larger exhibitions.
On invitation by the Leibniz Association our institute participated repeatedly in the Parliamentary Evenings in Berlin (3) and Brussels (1) and, in 2006, in the Leibniz Forum in Magdeburg.
