About the seminars
  • Gatersleben Lectures
Well-known national and international scientists give talks about results derived from their research in the Gatersleben Lectures. These talks are the start for further discussions and exchange of thoughts about the topic and peripheral fields with scientists from the institute where they also have the opportunity to present their research in individual and personal discussions with the guest.

  • Science meets Industry
In order to intensify the discourse with industry, IPK started a new series of seminars in 2006 under the title “Science meets Industry”. The series facilitates and encourages an exchange of ideas especially with local industry and was met with great acceptance immediately.
  • Vavilov Evening
This lecture series was initiated as a platform for presentations in the field of research on cultivated plants, especially plant genetic resources, in 1991 together with Vavilov Seminars. It covers cultural aspects as well. The main focal points are reports about botanical expeditions or activities on collecting germplasm.

  • Vavilov Seminars
The lectures series was established as a platform for presentations in the field of research on cultivated plants, especially plant genetic resources, in 1991 together with Vavilov Evenings. Focus is the presentation of scientific topics in the plant genetic field.

  • Genetic and Cell Biological Seminars
In these seminars, renowned national and international researchers hold 45-minute lectures with a following discussion in order to present important scientific developments in molecular cell biology, which are mainly derived from their own research. Later discussions with IPK scientists explore these presentations further and are also used to consider the possibilities of joint research work or projects in the future.

  • Waterman Seminars
This seminar series is intended to provide a scientific stage for outstanding internal progress reports as well as presentations of national and international guests of the IPK on the field of Bioinformatics. Moreover it serves as a platform to join the Bioinformatics at the IPK as well as to help integrating it with all other departments.
