Our group is interested in the dynamics and the diversity of the genomes of these three species and how the genomic features contribute to the agronomic performance of the crop. Our research focuses on sequencing the genomes of barley, wheat and rye. This information is then exploited for improving methods and strategies of harnessing allelic diversity of plant genetic resources and for elucidating the genetic basis of important characteristics of the species. We take advantage of the opportunities provided by Next Generation Sequencing technologies and we have pioneered the use of NGS for many aspects of Triticeae genome research.
