Development and application of large-scale metabolic modeling approaches in crop plants

Interested in Computational Biology? In our research group we reconstruct and analyze large-scale plant metabolic networks. The aim is to get a better understanding of the complex behavior of plant metabolism and to guide engineering strategies that will improve crop productivity and quality. We offer Bachelors or Masters projects (targeted at students of  biology, bioinformatics, biophysics or related disciplines) in metabolic modeling using flux-balance approaches.

Possible research topics include:

 (i) The development of constraint-based methods to study tissue- and organ interactions

(ii) The curation and computational integration of specialized metabolism

(iii) The study of plant-environment interactions

(iv) The integration of gene-regulatory and metabolic networks
