Intro

We are pleased to welcome you at the 14th Plant Science Student Conference (PSSC), taking place from June 19th to June 22nd 2018 at the Leibniz Institute for Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben, Saxony-Anhalt.

As in previous years, the conference will comprise of three days full of fascinating talks, poster sessions and social activities. The scientific program will be enriched by the participation of keynote speakers, who will not only introduce you into various fields of scientific research but also into science communication and some basic social skills, we all need for our scientific work.

The best talks and posters will be awarded through voting by the audience, so every participant is encouraged to give a great talk or design a spectacular poster!

In addition to PhD students from the IPK Gatersleben and the IPB Halle, PhD students from throughout Germany are invited to take part in the conference. As this is a PhD student conference, first year students who do not yet have final results are also invited to present their topic and introduce into the planned approaches of their research. Other PhD students may have valuable suggestions for you!

A hiking trip to the nearby Harz-region is planned to provide an opportunity to network and to enjoy this beautiful part of Germany. The social program will be completed by what will hopefully be an amazing conference closing party!

We hope that this year’s scientific and social program will make the 14th Plant Science Student Conference and exciting and memorable event!!

Registration

During the registration you will be asked to choose between talk or a poster or if you don't mind. After the abstract submission period is closed the organizing team will review all submitted abstracts. We will try to take into account your preference regarding talk or poster. In case there are not enough students who signed up for a talk we will randomly pick the missing number of abstracts for talks from the group of participants who had no preference regarding talk or poster. If necessary, we will continue picking from the ones who have chosen the poster option. And of course in case there will be too many participants who signed up for talks we will do the whole process the other way around.
