Ag Resources Genetics and Reproduction
Head: PD Dr. Andreas Börner
This research group is responsible for the management of the Gatersleben genebank collection, which entails the long-term storage, multiplication and distribution of the germplasm. Its major research foci concern seed longevity, genetic integrity and genetic diversity, and it also carries out an extensive programme of germplasm evaluation and genetic characterisation. The experimental work belongs to the IPK research theme 1 "Concepts for the valorization of plant genetic resources" and is done in close co-operation with other IPK research groups with expertise in molecular and biochemical techniques, as well as with numerous non-IPK institutions.
