Career paths for Young Researchers at the IPK

IPK offers early-career researchers an excellent environment in which to grow and develop their scientific profile through three structured group formats. Young Investigator Groups support early postdocs in gaining leadership experience and research independence within a department. They benefit from coaching and an increased visibility. Young Investigator Groups are funded through IPK’s core budget or additional funding opportunities. Independent Research Groups are led by advanced postdocs with their own external funding. These groups operate independently, while being administratively affiliated with a scientific department. They offer a pathway to high visibility and future leadership positions in academia or industry. Core-financed Research Groups form the long-term backbone of IPK's research. They are permanently embedded in the departmental structure and focus on building disciplinary expertise and continuity within the institute's strategic framework.

All research groups at IPK benefit equally from access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, laboratories, fields, greenhouses and central services. Interested researchers are welcome to contact the relevant colleagues at IPK directly for more detailed information.
