We focus on the transfer of research content and working methods to society. At our events we provide a comprehensive insight into scientific methods and research content and use the intensive exchange with the public to fascinate people with plant research. We look forward to your visit at the "Open Days" of the ResearchCampus in Gatersleben or in Malchow on the Baltic Sea island of Poel. We regularly participate in the "Fascination of Plants Day", the nationwide organised
„Zukunftstag“ or are represented at trade fairs and events.

For the first time, DataPLANT hosts the NFDI4LifeScience Conference in conjunction with the International Symposium on Integrative Bioinformatics from 2 – 4 September 2026 at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben.

This joint event recognizes that the future of life sciences relies on a seamless connection between robust research data…

Plant Journey - 3D journey into the plant

© Leibniz Institut (IPK)

An event of a different kind is our "Plant Journey" - the 3D journey into the plant. The "Plant Journey" is a playful, experienceable and explorable journey in the plant. Not only our "life base plant" but also the fascination of plant research and its interactions become visible on this journey. Starting with the nutrient molecule nitrogen in the soil, the journey begins in a rape seed plant. The molecule moves from the soil into the root via the stem into the leaf and reaches the seed in a transformed form. The IPK has 3 VR stations which in turn can travel to partner facilities.
