Die Aktivitäten der Arbeitsgruppe umfassen eine Vielzahl von Aspekten mit Bezug zu Genbankdaten. Die Arbeitsgruppe entwickelt und betreibt IT-basierte Informationssysteme über pflanzengenetische Ressourcen (PGR) mit dem Ziel, Informationen über PGR für Forscher, Züchter und andere Nutzer verfügbar zu machen und die Arbeitsabläufe in der Genbank zu unterstützen.

Im Zentrum stehen die Weiterentwicklung des Genbank-Informationssystems (GBIS) sowie des Europäischen Suchkatalogs für pflanzengenetische Ressourcen (EURISCO), um so die langfristige Verfügbarkeit von PGR-bezogenen Daten zu gewährleisten. Die Arbeitsgruppe trägt die Verantwortung für die Vergabe von dauerhaften und eindeutigen Identifikatoren für Genbankakzessionen.

Darüber hinaus beteiligt sich die Forschungsgruppe an der Entwicklung von internationalen Informationsverbünden zu pflanzengenetischen Ressourcen und Biodiversitätsinformatik. Es werden verschiedene internationale biodiversitätsbezogene Datenbanken gepflegt und weiterentwickelt. Die Arbeitsgruppe betreibt die Wetterstation des IPK.

Projekte

GBIS

Das Genbankinformationssystem (GBIS) ist die zentrale Datenbank und Software für die Verwaltung der Akzessionen in der Genbank.

Über das Teilsystem GBIS/M werden alle Informationen in das System eingepflegt sowie die Lagerung, Vermehrung, Kontrolle und der Versand von Saat- und Pflanzgut durch die Sortimentsgruppen der Genbank organisiert.

Das zweite Teilsystem, GBIS/I, bietet über die Webseite weltweiten Zugriff auf die Passportdaten der ca. 151.000 Akzessionen – Angaben zur Identität, Geschichte, geographischen Herkunft und botanischen Zuordnung des Materials – einschließlich der Teilsammlungen Nord in Groß Lüsewitz (Kartoffeln) und Malchow/Poel (Öl- und Futterpflanzen). Zunehmend werden auch Charakterisierungs- und Evaluierungsdaten (C&E-Daten) ausgewählter Pflanzenarten über GBIS/I veröffentlicht.

Darüber hinaus enthält es ein integriertes Bestellsystem für Genbankmaterial.

Genbankdaten werden im MCPD-Format für internationale PGR-Datenbanken bereitgestellt. Über weitere Schnittstellen ist das System mit internen und externen Systemen verbunden.

 

EURISCO

Der Europäische Suchkatalog für pflanzengenetische Ressourcen, EURISCO, stellt Informationen über mehr als zwei Millionen Akzessionen von Kulturpflanzen und verwandten Wildarten bereit, die im Rahmen von Ex-situ-Sammlungen durch mehr als 400 Institutionen erhalten werden. EURISCO wird im Auftrag des European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR) betrieben. Es basiert auf einem Netzwerk von National Inventorys der 43 Mitgliedsländer und leistet durch seine Informationsbereitstellung einen bedeutenden Beitrag für die Erhaltung der weltweiten agrobiologischen Diversität.

Darüber hinaus unterstützt EURISCO auch die Mitgliedsländer bei der Erfüllung gesetzlicher Verpflichtungen, z.B. im Zusammenhang mit pflanzengenetischen Ressourcen, dem Zweiten Globalen Aktionsplan für pflanzengenetische Ressourcen für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft der UN- Organisation für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft oder der Konvention über die biologische Vielfalt.

Die in EURISCO dokumentierten Akzessionen umfassen gegenwärtig mehr als 6.700 Gattungen und 45.000 Arten.

 

AGENT

Das Projekt Activated GEnebank NeTwork (AGENT) wird im Rahmen des Horizon-2020-Calls "Adding value to plant Genetic Resources" (SFS-28-2019 B) gefördert. AGENT ist eine konzertierte Aktion zur Aktivierung von Genbanken. Es konzentriert sich in erster Linie auf Weizen und Gerste und zielt darauf ab, Züchtern und Landwirten den Zugang zu genetischen Ressourcen durch standardisierte Protokolle für die Datengenerierung, Dokumentation und Bereitstellung zu erleichtern. Unsere Arbeitsgruppe ist hauptsächlich an zwei Arbeitspaketen beteiligt, die darauf abzielen, Richtlinien und Formate für die Datenproduktion, den Datenaustausch und die Datenpräsentation zu entwickeln, bzw. die Infrastruktur für das Management und die Analyse von genotypischen und phänotypischen Daten über genetische Ressourcen zu entwickeln.

Das AGENT-Projekt hat eine Förderung durch das Forschungs- und Innovationsprogramm Horizon 2020 der Europäischen Union unter der Fördernummer 862613 erhalten.

 

INCREASE

Das ebenfalls im Rahmen des SFS-28-2019 B von der EU finanzierte Projekt „Intelligent Collections of Food-Legume Genetic Resources for European Agrofood Systems“ (INCREASE) wird das Management und die Nutzung der genetischen Ressourcen von Leguminosen verbessern.

Mit Fokus auf Kichererbse, Ackerbohne, Linse und Lupine verfolgt INCREASE einen neuen Ansatz zur Erhaltung, Verwaltung und Charakterisierung genetischer Ressourcen. Diese Arten stellen einen Querschnitt in Bezug auf ihren potenziellen Wert für eine nachhaltige Nahrungsmittelproduktion dar. Sie sind alle stark mit der europäischen Ernährungstradition und den Bedürfnissen verbunden und bieten bedeutende Optionen für die EU-Landwirtschaft.

Mit dem Arbeitspaket zum Datenmanagement gestaltet unsere Arbeitsgruppe das Rückgrat des Projektes. Hierbei kann die Arbeitsgruppe von ihrem dualen Charakter als Experten für die Dokumentation genetischer Ressourcen und IT-Spezialisten profitieren.
