The Domestication Genomics group investigates the evolution and adaptation of crops, with a focus on how these processes shape genetic diversity in domesticated plants and their wild progenitors. Our research centres on cereal and legume species, making use of the extensive germplasm collections maintained in the German national genebank. A core area of our work is the pangenomics of cultivated legumes and their wild relatives.

Your tasks:

  • Assembling and analyzing faba bean and pea genomes.
  • Connecting sequence variation to phenotypic diversity.
  • Exploring the use of novel approaches to make pangenomes accessible, such as pangenome graphs.

Your qualifications and skills:

  • You hold a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics or plant science.
  • You have experience in plant genomics and the integrative analysis of large-scale data sets.
  • You are a confident user of computational tools and are proficient in at least one programming language.
